An easy 3 hours drive west of Melbourne Port Campbell is the ideal place to explore the many marvels of the Shipwreck Coast.
Anchors is located 2kms North of Port Campbell along the Cobden-Port Campbell Road. Port Campbell is a small fishing village renowned for its southern rock lobster. The Pier is a desirable place for the avid angler and The Point is popular among the local surfers. Port Campbell offers a variety of cafes and restaurants, surf shops and gift shops. The General Store and Post Office has everything covered.
INLAND ROUTE
Heading west along the Princess Hwy through Geelong, 13km past Colac turn left onto the C161 to Simpson. From Simpson take the C166 to meet the Great Ocean Road. While driving south take the time to taste the award-winning Apostle Whey Cheese or indulge in some G.O.R.G.E. Chocolates. There are many attractions along the coastline of Port Campbell National Park including Gibson Steps, Glenample Homestead, the famous Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge.
Alternatively continue along the A1 from Colac to Camperdown driving south through the Lakes and Craters region to Cobden. While exploring the Corangamite Shire a tour around Timboon should not be missed.
The Timboon Railway Shed Distillery is situated in the heart of Timboon featuring delicious gourmet produce from the area. Pick your own selection of strawberries from Berry World or enjoy a tasting at Schulz Organic Creamery and Cafe.
THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD
An approximate 5 hr drive from Melbourne the Great Ocean Road is one of the greatest touring routes in the world. From Geelong to Torquay head to Anglesea where this spectacular scenic road begins winding its way to Lorne and Apollo Bay. From Lavers Hill experience the Otway Fly Tree Top Walk. For the adventurous The Great Ocean Walk covers 91km and links Apollo Bay to Glenample Homestead at Princetown. An opportunity to take a helicopter flight over the 12 Apostles before reaching Port Campbell will give you an astonishing view of this magnificent coastline.
